My Possibilities (MP), a local non-profit, originally contacted us to host a beer dinner in June of 2016. Upon learning that MP provides adults with cognitive disabilities the opportunity to continue their education, we jumped at the chance to host. HIPsters, or Hugely Important People (aka MP students), prepared and served dinner that evening, and as a gesture of thanks for hosting, they created and presented us with a truly amazing piece of art that features prominently in our Taproom to this day. Over the last few years, we’ve partnered with MP multiple times (e.g., Give Back Thursday, the Peticolas Car Show, the Community Ball) and in an effort to return the thanks to MP and its HIPsters, we brewed a beer specifically for their benefit, HIPster Ale.
HIPster Ale is a blonde ale that presents as a classic ‘light beer’ – straw like color beneath a clean white head of foam. And easy drinking is the name of the game for this one. Lemondrop and Cascade hops play a unique background role in both flavor and aroma – present, but intentionally less noticeable. The effervescence brings a refreshing character to the beer and balances out an ever so slight bready finish. You may think it, but it’s not macro beer.
Our goal with HIPster Ale is to raise awareness and funds for MP and its cause. Consequently, we will donate half of all profits earned on HIPster ale back to MP for as long as we brew it. HIPster Ale becomes available in our Taproom Friday, July 19. Expect to also see a few public launch parties around town followed by a full market release the first week of August.
